The Zenith carbs are built with 1 mm thick washers under the brass float valves. At this thickness my Javelin runs well but the plugs are always sooty. I bought two 175R16 radial tyres for the rear axle - they fit fine, they are 19 mm (3/4") wider that the cross ply Avons. There is clearance to the rear wings. For a trial I then fitted them to the front axle and raised the front on two jacks on the lower wishbones so they were 'as on the road'...

Age of tyres

Hi, I have wondering about the age of my Javelin tyres. As an example one says 'Avon Tourist' and has an oval mark with '5E288 and a triangle' stamped into the rubber. Can anyone help with date codes please? Is this week 28 of 1988 or 1998? Cheers.
