Re: New Guy

Gentlemen, it is with deep regret that I inform you all that I will not be proceeding with my Javelin project. I have just learned that my Father has been diagnosed with cancer and any thoughts of hobbies, cars etc. has to be put on hold for the foreseeable. That means that JCJ is now back on the ma...

Re: Disc Brakes for Javelin/Jupiter?

Bear in mind that Roger Clarke ( in a Lotus Cortina if I remember correctly) was following Geoff in the Javelin down a pass in Northern Italy. In the evening he commented how well the Jav went. So 'adequate' as far as Geoff is concerned is that at rallying speeds they still stopped the car repeated...

Re: Disc Brakes for Javelin/Jupiter?

This thread is an interesting subject indeed. Some find enjoyment in modernising old cars while others prefer originality. Neither is wrong - it's just 'different strokes'. In terms of historic competition there are strict rules regarding originality. Back in the '80s, those of us doing historic sp...

Re: New Guy

I am sure there would be a way to run a floor change on a Javelin, if required, either through the access hole above the gearbox or by cutting through the plywood floorboard - question is the clearance for the bellhousing probably, but if you found a very squat engine and box it might be possible. ...

Re: New Guy

I could really do with those inner wheelarch lip measurements if anyone has the time  The Mazda MX5 is looking good but it's 55.5" track, rear axle is 56" but is dead easy to shorten and comes in a convenient subframe. I finally had to part with my faithful old Citroen XM Estate the ...

Re: New Guy

On your Hotrod Javelin,You mentioned a Volvo diff, the early ones were Dana 27 or Dana 30 some with 10 spline axles others with over 20, I think 23. If you do use an early Volvo can you please check it's similarity to the Javelin, as Javelin is a salisbury3ha or Dana 23. Both the Dana 23 & 27 w...

Re: Disc Brakes for Javelin/Jupiter?

Hi I was not trying to give a lesson to anyone, just showing my disagreement with changes in a classic fully away from the original idea, not being a preparation for racing or rally circuit. My current car has no modification, and is one of the most "tuned" Seat Leon FR TDi 150HP, may be ...

Re: New Guy

Not so much the engine - the PVR V6 engine is very compact - essentially a 24" cube - it's mainly the clearance above the intake - ie is there room for a top mounted eaton Blower TJ - I don't think that you will have a problem an engine of that size will readily slot in - there is a load of sp...

Re: New Guy

TJ - Our national rally is on the 25th / 26th May in Basingstoke - you might find it very useful if you could pay a visit - let me know if you require further details. Chris, many thanx for the invite - of course the Yellow peril won't be there [ 2014 / 15 ? ]. That said, that is the weekend of my ...
