Seems curious?

I did not know that Jowetts ever used magnetos on any of the four cylinder cars. As far as I know (not that far) they were used on the stationery engines - well mine anyway - and the VERY early cars, like Michael Koch-Osbourne's.

Was this possibly an option on the pre-war Tens? Surely not for Javelins or Jupiters?
The devil is in the detail!

I am 99.99 % certain no four cylinder Jowett cars were factory fitted with a mag but it is possible that the Bristol tractors using the 4cyl unit were. Bristol Tractors took 6 4 cyl engines in 1939 & another 12 were sold to other customers. In 1940 20 4 cyl units were sold to other customers, presumably for stationery duties so again may have been fitted with a mag.

have just looked up anoth;er source which is probably 100% accuratethe 1938 -1942 ;Bristol Tractor with Jowett 4 cyl engine was fitted with "vertical magneto with impulse starter". The 1934-1942 tractors useda Wico magneto with impulse strter. so unless the one for sale is a vertex type ( with impulse starter) its not off a JOwett - unless somebody knows different!
