The last Executive meeting of
2011 was held on the 17th of September at
Thringstone. One subject that was debated
at length was the concours awards: it appears
that there are general concerns at
several levels, and the meeting agreed to
return to this topic at the March Executive
meeting for a comprehensive revue. It was
felt by some members that the current system
is flawed in many ways; it was suggested
that the award titles were confusing,
the judging forms leave no scope for recognition
of originality, the judging had in
some cases been bad, with the judges not
implementing the questions asked in the
forms they were filling, and it was asked
whether another method of entry selection
for entries should be looked at. All these
points and anything else you may feel is
relevant are up for debate; don’t be shy, I
know Alan Brierley will be pleased to hear
from you.
