Your interest in the forum: I am the owner of 266, Red Skelton's personal Jupiter sold to me by my late very good friend Ted Miller. I am joining because I need to stay up to date on all Jowett related things. I've owned a Javelin that I've since sold to my friend Jim Miller. And, my friend Scott Renner has done most of the work on my Jupiter, here in Southern California. My other interest is in Warwick Healeys, as I own a 1947 Healey Westland roadster currently mostly restored.

Jupiter windshield frame chrome surround

Post by ScottTisdale »

Dear Jowett friends,

I am attempting to finish the restoration of 266, the Red Skelton Jupiter out here in California, and one thing I didn't realize was missing when I obtained the car was the exterior chrome windshield surround which holds the glass in place. So, if anyone knows anyone who might have this spare bit, please let me know. Right now, though I enjoy bopping around in the mechanically restored version, unpainted and with windscreens, I'm looking forward to the more creature comfortable finished version with soft top as I have everything else to finish the car. And, contrary to world opinion, it actually does rain in California here and there :!: :D

You can see pics of the Red Skelton car as it is and as it runs today at: http://www.jowettjupiter.com in the restoration section if you scroll down. Thanks everyone!

I know it may not be correct on an SA but you can use the same system as on an SC. This uses a rubber moulding to hold glass to frame (dispensing with inner chrome frame) and has a peseudo chrome filler bead externally.

Thank you for the reply. I have never seen a SC in person, but I will quiz my Jupiter friends here in California and see what they say. I think Jim Miller has a SC, so I'll see if I can take a look at his Jupiter. Thanks again.

Some are in the Gallery starting TOPIC here.
We have a video so I will try to load up in the next couple of weeks. Chris was threatening to make a course out of it as he used to fit windscreens professionally.
