Danish Veteran Car Club (http://www.veteranbilklub.dk/ with 6,000 members across the country) have agreed that a joint meeting will be held on the August Bank Holiday weekend of the 23rd to 26th (depending on the ferry schedule).
THE LOCATION: Central Denmark, near to Odense, some sixty miles from the Esbjerg ferry.
All Jowetteers have been invited by Ib Rasmussen and the Danish Veteran
Car Club to join them in a Rally on August 24-26th 2012 in the Castle of Hvedholm,
on the outskirts of Faaborg, only sixty miles easy driving from the seaport of Esbjerg.
There are already ten Jowett cars and their owners showing an interest in this jolly,
and rumour has it that some USA, EU, and Australian members have also enquired
about coming. The Danish Club has 6,000 members (let's hope they don't all come!).
If you would like to be kept informed about this exciting adventure as details and
plans progress, then please send me an e-mail: msuemason@gmail.com This will not
obligate you to come, but will ensure that you receive all information as it comes in.
There is only one (eighteen-hour) ferry route from Harwich to Esbjerg, Denmark and
so the exact dates will depend on ferry sailings. The new time table is not available
yet. Information will also appear in the Jowetteer with links to the locations. Those
without cars could fly and will be allocated lifts if available.
The Car Club Site is: http://www.veteranbilklub.dk/ (click the ‘translate’ button on
Google toolbar and magically this will all appear in English).
The Castle Site is: http://www.slotshotel.dk (click the link on the left side bar to
Hvedholm Castle). Hope to hear from you... -Sue Mason

Jowetts: Denmark 2012
Just to bring everyone in all media outlets, here is up to date information regarding the Jowett 2012 Rally
Firstly the ferry Harwich - Esbjerg the cost has been reduced for our club only and now stands at £500 return. This includes car two passengers and a cabin both ways. As the journey to Denmark on this ferry is 18 hours, this represents very good value.
Ib Rasmussen and Cira have negotiated a great deal in the Hotel for two nights Bed and Breakfast with two persons sharing a room, and the formal dinner on Saturday = £152.00 per person.
We will be met and escorted across Denmark to and from the ferry, by members of the Danish Veteran Car Club.
There are 7 cars booked on the Harwich Ferry, and a further 10 Jowetteers coming to the event, making at least 17 cars in total (there are some from Europe that will make their own way there)
This notice is for information, but if you want further information or a chat, then don't hesitate to write to me:
msuemason@gmail.com or call +44 (0)1625427882.

Hi Sue,
My fault entirely for not noting this down previously, but what date is the Denmark rally? I may have to come and keep an eye on Clements Snr and make sure he behaves (though no guarantees that he will behave anything other than badly).
Thanks,
Amy.

Re: Jowetts: Denmark 2012
As I said in the car it was already there, just that Sue started a new topic in Natter which has now been moved to 'Events' and merged with the original.
We might also think about travelling on the way back via Calais and Belgium. The Google route takes us past Jaak Jacobs place and Essen where we are going for the Classic Car show on 21st -25th March http://www.ciltd.co.uk/Techno/tcindex.htm
Total distance is 746 miles with fuel cost estimate by Google as £145.
Harwich to Rotterdam is shorter at 685 miles and £129.
Of this Harwich is 93 miles and Esbjerg to Faaborg is 103 miles so can be subtracted from above distances.

Re: Jowetts: Denmark 2012
The group booking is now closed so those wanting to go via Esbjerg need to book on DFDS site themselves.
I am looking to go via Eurotunnel at £55 each way and with a fuel cost of an extra £120 each way this will just about match the excellent discount of the group booking with enough left over for a motel stay or two en route and a few extra meals.
Anyone wishing to accompany me in the Jup or who is thinking of travelling to the event not via Esbjerg please contact Keith Clements. We can then fly the Jowett flag on a different route to the main contingent.
