JCC RE-ENACTMENT
On the home page Keith has posted the press cutting that details the meeting that led to the formation of JCC (Southern JCC) but none the less the establishment of what we are today - This was at Manningham Park Gates in Bradford - actually known as 'Lister Park' - Hopefully the gates are still there - maybe our members in the north could advise. The event was held on the 13th May 1922 at 14.15 - 14.30 hours - where potential members / Jowett car owners met at this point then drove on to Boroughbridge - where after tea talks were held on the formation of what would become JCC - SURELY - we owe upon ourselves to re-enact this event on the 13th May 2013 !!! at the times listed - although this falls on a Monday - it would provide for yet another high profile publicity event - I am a bit too busy to organise it myself what with an impending house sale / relocation, several Jowetts in thousands of peices, very busy day job & heavy involvement in the Basingstoke Rally.
The event would take little to organise & no doubt Noel & Jack will handle the press pubicity - we just need a volunteer to get members and their cars together for the event - so volunteers one step forward please !!

Re: JCC RE-ENACTMENT
This is a brilliant idea.
I've sent an e-mail to see if we can find some local members to support this - obviously we will need to get a few cars there, and with the rally only a couple of weeks afterwards it might be difficult for us to attend, but perhaps this will be a chance for the sections in the north of England to get into the 90th Anniversary buzz.
I can't imagine a magazine not running a story on this - the oldest one make car club re-enacts the events that led to its formation 90 years to the minute after it all started? The photo opportunities, the historical angle with info on how it all started, and an active club out enjoying itself and driving its cars to celebrate? Who wouldn't love to read about that?

Re: JCC RE-ENACTMENT
This sounds like an excellent idea, the Telegraph & Argus in Bradford cover the Ex-Employee's Reunions every year and like to publish Jowett related articles, so I am sure they would be happy to cover this event.
We would not have too many cars to choose from if it is going to be totally accurate...we may need to extend the cut-off date into the mid 1920's for the cars?

Re: JCC RE-ENACTMENT
Personally I would make the event - anything Jowett rather than attempt to copy the exact event of 91 years ago - maybe put the pre 1924 cars to the front and let the later cars follow behind - would it not demonstrate how far we have come as a club ? - The more cars - the greater the attraction from my veiwpoint.

Re: JCC RE-ENACTMENT
I agree with Chris. The early cars to the forefront, but as many as possible of other Jowetts attending as well, to show that the ethos of the Jowett car Club is still alive after all these years.
Noel will surely generate interest via the Bradford Press, and maybe further afield in Yorkshire and the UK.
Not many of the Northern Section seem to be active on JowettTalk, so perhaps any of the Club Officers reading what we all post might just start the ball rolling.
Our Northern Section Secretary lives in Gomersall, and there's a cabal of Northern Section members within a 10 mile radius of Gomersall, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem to get some action.
It can be done:-
Check out the price of an overnight stay for example at a nearby Premier Inn, (if booked quickly), for the 12th May 2013.
1 room, 2 adults, 1 night, without amends or refunds, £30 at the moment. £45 flexible.
http://www.premierinn.com/en/checkHotel ... ford-south.
I haven't checked the price north of Bradford, but I'd bet it is similar.
You'll need to add food and petrol, but this seems to be a very feasible get together.
With tongue in cheek, if the Northern Section does not rise to the occasion, I'm sure the NW section could do so.
Tony.
P.S. Copy for the Jowetteer magazine has to be with Alan before the 20th. of the month.

Tony - It is already drafted and will go with other copy that I have for Basingstoke - I would just like as many cars there as possible - it is quite feasable that I can make the event as relatives reside a few towns away in Barnsley - just have too much on my plate to be able to organise it.

Re: JCC RE-ENACTMENT
It would be nice if the reenaactment at Lister Park gate was of just 7 pre '24 cars for historic acuracy(ish) and photographic purposes. '24 models could be included if needed to bring the number to 7 as they were very little different visually ( baloon tyres were an option on '24 models but could bave been retro fitted to earlier cars) but equally important that all Jowetts be included . The press could be sold it as a '''then and now'' or ''large trees from small acorns'' presentation of the oldest car club etc.

Re: JCC RE-ENACTMENT
Ok - Slight change of plan - After some research by Noel Stokoe & Michael K O (Many thanks guys) - it transpires that the Bradford meeting led to the formation of a club but for whatever reason the club dissolved - However, on the 26th August 1923 the Southern Jowett Car Club was formed (from where we directly trace the JCC roots). Several Jowett cars travelled from Croydon to Titsey Hill at Limpsfield on this date to mark the formation of the club - so out of this the following is planned:
On Sunday 12th May 2013 - A Jowett photo shoot will be undertaken at Lister Park, Bradford to mark the original date of 13th May 1922 meeting - this is a valuable exercise in order to issue press releases for our forthcoming 90th anniversary events - Michael K O will put the idea to the next Northern Section Meeting and request volounteers to co-ordinate the event along with members cars that could attend - Jack & Noel will deal with the event publicty (Noel I trust that you are ok with this ? - I have already spoken to Jack)
On Sunday 25th August 2013 (or it could be done on the actual anniversary day of Monday 26th August as this is the bank holiday) - To mark the 90th anniversary of the inagural Southen Jowett Car Club run - we shall re-enact the run from Croydon to Titsey Hill at Limpsfield (approx 11.5 miles on A & B roads) with as many Jowetts that we can amass on the day to demonstrate the support and strength of the club today. I shall draft a peice for January's Jowetter - with this now being a Southern based event and after the Basingstoke rally where the majority of my committment currently lies - I have no doubt that I could find time to co-ordinate this - however, all offers of help are very much appreciated - members & cars can indicate their interest either through posting on JT or send me a PM. Again Jack & Noel will deal with the publicity for the event
There is a press cutting from the original August 1923 event that try as I might I can not get to copy to this post so I will get Jack who originally forwarded it, to post this up on the thread.

Re: JCC RE-ENACTMENT
Further update, we had a look in the calendar, and Monday 26th Aug is a Bank Holiday - an ideal time to go for a bit of a drive.
Finer detail to follow, but this is now a date for the diary.
Jack.
