OK, security seems to be fixed so new account created. But it has been there three years? I'd call myself an advanced user and I never knew it was there. I don't want to sound negative, but I think you are kidding yourself that more than a small minority of Jowetteers can be bothered with the fine distinction between .net and .org etc. Perhaps this complication might be the reason that some photographs that I posted on Flickr have attracted the attention of Jack on this forum, and yet the same photos have been posted in my personal Jowett gallery for years. And yes, I know an explanation of the sites is all written down on the original web site but if we must stick with so many site addresses that link round and round, perhaps a hard copy map in each Jowetteer would be a good idea for those trying to venture forth for the first time?

Nick,
Pictures on Flickr may well be found by people searching such resources for things Jowett, something Jack does a lot.
You must be logged on to search on JowettGallery and often pictures are not well annotated so difficult to find, but at least you know everything on there is Jowett related. Search facilities have been much discussed on this forum.

Jowett.net has been around for about 15 years. It is a back up site that can take over from Jowett.org. The two sites are in different continents and run by different hosting organisations. Any changes are replicated 4 times a day on a complex regime to minimize downtime in the event of failure or hacking attack, but it is not a non-stop system.

The sites swap over when there is a major upgrade as happened about 10 years ago to allow parallel running. Lack of support for things Internet from the JCC exec has slowed the swap over to the new site. But there is no reason you cannot simply use Jowett.net as your starting point. Any changes to Jowett.org are replicated on Jowett.net. Note that JowettGallery and JowettTalk both use Jowett.net as the primary site. this was because Jowett.org ran into performance issues 5 years ago and the primary site was swapped.

You should not need to have any written instructions for navigating the site(s) the left panel has the links to all the services, except the JowettInternetServices which are only on Jowett.net. The JIS are really not live yet as there has not been backing from the JCC exec even though more than half the membership use the Internet. They were promoted for booking on the Basingstoke Rally which some people used, but progress has slowed on introducing more facilities. I collected registers from some of the registrars so that I could add that facility.

The system is almost ready to go to implement the range of services but things do take effort in design, implementation and testing!

If you trawl back through the Jowetteers you will find that such explanations and help have been published. The last was introducing JIS which was done last year prior to start of Rally booking. It was on a separate pull out sheet for easy reference! But why not write to the Jowetteer yourself on how you see the system. It might be better from a different viewpoint.

By the way the system was explained at the AGM at length, much to the distain of the anti Internet lobby. I have put the presentation in the Gallery.
