Jupiter goes to auction Aug 31st

Post by Jack »

I had a good look at this at Basingstoke and discussed with John Bateman, current owner, who has clearly looked after this car. Interior is well sorted, and the paintwork looked good. He was happily driving about through the weekend so clearly it is in running order, but I didn't get a good look under the bonnet on the Saturday.

It has a few modifications, the hood is a fabric fold up hood that clips around the top of the windscreen, over the rollcage, and onto the rear of the cockpit - a neat and lightweight solution that cuts down on weight and frees up space to get into the boot and for the seats that are fitted. Also has a digital meter fitted for rallying set into the glovebox and a couple of other mods designed to prepare it for rallies.

Hi there,

The trade site mentioned above describes the transmission as 'automatic' which is a first for me! Perhaps the writer did not understand that you can get column change gear levers that are not automatic, or there again, perhaps it is an automatic....? Looks good though!

Hi David,

I am fairly sure it isn't an auto, seemed like column change when John was driving it around but I could have missed it.

I suspect they saw the lack of gearstick on the floor and just assumed, I'd hope that anyone bidding had done at least enough research to know what gearchange to expect!

Like some Jowett gear boxes it may decide to change gear on its own! :)
