1952 Javelin on ebay

Post by Jack »

Another day, another project pops up. The start price seems a bit ambitious to me, but it might go at that price if the spares are good and the car is very solid underneath.

This car was previously for sale in Barking Essex in the May 2013 list by Chris Spencer. It is not in the register , and is a Devon registration in use late 1951/early 1952. Bob

Sold £1370. 3 bids. Although this car was local to me I did not try to get to see it, but I note the vendor has recently sold a Triumph Spitfire and is currently selling a Triumph Stag, so perhaps a dealer? I've looked through several old registers and failed to turn up NTT 517 so we are still stuck for the chassis number. Let's hope it turns up within the club.

And yes, the latest Jowetteer shows that the owner has joined the club with Javelin NTT 517 (E1 PC 18918 D). Not far away - perhaps I will make contact.

Use the map on http://jowett.net/FirstAid.php to see where it lives! :)

Well actually, at risk of excessively boosting your ego the sequence of events went like this:
1. Go to JowettTalk and read new post about updated maps.
2. Look at maps and immediately notice a new member marker, previously un-spotted.
3. Consult Jowetteer which I clearly had not read thoroughly enough the first time.
4. Find "From the Records" that there is indeed a new member in my area.
5. Cower in corner at how powerful the internet can be.

Well done Nick, I hope you noted that all the member details are available on the map by clicking the marker. So you do not need to trawl through the Jowetteers!

Yes, I did find the address facility afterwards, although because the phone number pops up on mouse- over I initially thought that was all there was. Can I suggest that the text at the top "Click the desired marker to reveal name and phone" is made slightly larger so it is more obvious on viewing the page (one's eyes are drawn away to the coloured markers, not the humble heading). Perhaps also it could be revised to say "Double - click the desired marker to reveal name and further details". The mouse over has already shown the phone number.

Mouseover does not work on touch screens and I have not investigated how to differentiate between end user devices. But thanks for the feedback. I am aiming this service at smart phones.

Other services are planned for event promotion such as the commemoration run on 25th August from Titsey Hill to Croydon.
