A day out in a Kestrel.

Post by NigelMorley »

Sunday 20th Oct 2013. Set out for Delamere where Chester Vintage Enthusiast Club were holding the Autumn Trial. After 38 uneventfull miles I arrived at Fishpools farm to be met by co-owner of the Kestrel John Gatley who had volunteered as "bouncer". Dennis Mitchell and Audrey greeted us,Dennis owned the Kestrel for many years. The trial consisted of 6 sections marked out on grassy/muddy slopes. You had a go before and after lunch so 12 attempts in total. The Kestrel cleared 5 sections and got partly up a few and not very far at all on some ,but we had a really enjoyable time. Other entrants were Austin 7s, Ford Y, Morris 10,Clyno,Wolseley and Triumph. The Chester Club made us very welcome ,some remembered the car from when Dennis owned it. Activities ended at 3 so I followed John back to Warrington for a cupa.My drive home was very very wet, floods in places. The Kestrel never missed a beat,we did about 100 miles in all and no damage. If any photographs of us turn up I will try to put some on this forum. Regards Nigel.

Sounds like fun, apart from the rain, but then a hill climb without mud is not exciting!
