Which Window Winder?
I have been delving into the darkest recesses of one of the long garages, moving stuff so that I can repair the south-facing, water-logged garage side in the next few days.
I've found numerous items I'd forgotten I had, but the window winder pictured below is not for the 1934 saloon. Can anyone identify it please? I expect it's from a Jowett because most of my bits are. Tony.

It doesn't look like Javelin from memory, and don't think it is Jupiter either.

presumably that only leaves the 8 & 10 as assuming it is Jowett? but it may be something entirely different

This is where it came from. It's part of the complete door mechanism for a pre-war, and was just dismantled and stored in the wrong garage years ago.
Anyway, we now know, and it's no longer a mystery, (but not whether 7, 8 or 10hp.)

Tony, if they are 8/10 hp, Bob Grey was advertising for a replacement mechanism for his 8 is there any way someone could confirm that they are?

Hi Ken.
That's just the reason for my visit to another of the garages away from the main ones. I had spoken to Bob about the door mechanisms I thought I had in the top garage, and promised to send him some photos so that he could decide whether or not to come over to have a look at them 'in the flesh'.
I emailed them to his daughter as he's not on the internet, so he'll probably get back to me shortly, one way or another.

The winders fitted to the rear windows on my 1930 Long Four have only got one 'rail' across the bottom where the glass fits. The ones in your pictures appear to have two rails or possibly a rectangular frame? It also looks as if the door lock mechanism is built into the assembly. Mine has totally separate 'patch' type locks
If so, this MIGHT mean that they are from an 8 or a 10 rather than a 7.

No they really are correct at least for the 1934 saloons in my opinion, now that I've seen the complete ones rather than just the winder mechanism in the first post. They also have the 'polished' wooden cappings attached, which hold and finish off the tops of the door cards.
With a closer look, the second down on the right hand row shows an angled front locking plate rather than the right angled other ones. I presume this comes from a front near-side door which itself is shaped at the leading edge, unlike the rear doors which have a vertical back edge.
Whether they fit 8s or 10s I don't know, but as you say, they are completely different to your 1930 saloon.
