JOWETTS FOR SALE DECEMBER 2014

Post by Chris Spencer »

Apologies for the lateness of the December listing - quite a lot of buying activity in the market over the last month or so (including myself) great to see the cars finding new owners - we just need to ensure that we do all that we can to encourage new owners to become members of the club

1948 Bradford Lorry Back on the market for the second time this year, this is the Roger Young restored Bradford Lorry, green over black, new timber rear body, recent concours winner - registration number: 716 UXO - Vehicle is in Cheshire and is priced at £9,950
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C527952

E Bay Javelin project - 1953 Deluxe, blue with brown interior - engine runs looks to be in a fair & complete condition but obviously requires work - registration number: PYC 189, car is located in Coventry, realistic starting price of £1,500 auction ends 21/12/14 @ 19:46 hours The car was strongly bid to £2,600 but has of this evening the listing has been ended 48 hours early - This normally happens when the vendor is contacted with a offer that they find that they can not refuse so we shall assume the vehicle is SOLD - but in the last several months Jowett projects are becoming sought after and in cases like this are starting bring strong results - 18 months ago this car would have changed hands for £1,000 - £1,500 - it would appear that this one has raised a price of double the higher figure
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jowett-Javeli ... 4897.l4275

1931 Jowett 7HP lorry (covered) - green over black - rare - smartly presented - £12,000 - see images attached to this thread - please contact me directly and I can put you in touch with the owner

1952 Jupiter SA - Red coachwork, beige interior - very nice car which is well presented - please contact me directly and I shall put you in touch with the owner

1949 Javelin Early car, solid & roadworthy, new tyres, gold coachwork, presentable car which would benefit from some cosmetic TLC, for sale by club member Danuta Morgan 01633 211410 - car is located in Newport, Wales - well priced at £3,500

1952 Jupiter SA Finished in Yellow with beige trim - RHD - well presented - with a European dealer in Dresden, Germany - this car last changed hands in the UK a little over 18 months ago - Asking price is £32,000
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C549640#

LBY 254 The ex Frank Woolley / Richard Gane - Jupiter is for sale - please see listing within this thread / below for images and further details

1952 Farr bodied Jupiter The advert is sparse in detail but I have made some enquiries in order to add further detail - one of four cars coachbuilt to Jupiter chassis by Farr - I am led to believe that only 3 remain - this was apparently the reserve car for the 1953 Monte Carlo rally - having been barn stored for the last 40 years the car is described as being complete but in a fragile state - given the condition the asking price is very unrealistic at £12,500 - Now reduced to £9,500 or near offer but still somewhat unrealisitic - web link to the advert below but no images - the car is in the West Midlands
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C560517

Javelin Projects 2 number Javelin projects - both in black one with a reconditioned engine the other has a seized engine - for sale by a collector who wishes to downsize - vendor would like to see the cars saved & restored rather than scrapped - However loss of storage means they have to be found new homes quite soon - vendor is open to reasonable offers - vehicles are located in Yorkley, Forest of Dean - Contact Bernard on 01594 562654

Early Jupiter SA - Older restoration - recent brakes - very smartly presented - car is in Cincinnati, USA - Guide price £27,000 - £30,000

1951 Jowett Javelin Deluxe Cream with tan interior, restored - vendor has taken the liberty of advertising it has 'Monte Carlo Winning Classic For Sale' However fails to state that if this the actual Monte Carlo car - which I somewhat doubt given the loose sales description that follows the headline, the car is in Brisbane, Australia with an asking price of £11,000
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C541474

1951 Javelin project - Black - running but requires lots of work - LXT 259 - Price is a very unrealistic £2,800 hence this car is going to be for sale for a long time
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C515225

1929 Jowett 7hp - Restored chassis / running gear fitted with a new ash framed / alloy sports touring ducks back body - currently bare alloy finish / unpainted -
2 / 3 seater with dicky - registration EG 1893 - car is in Winsford, Cheshire £16,950 - near offer considered
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C514548

1950 Jupiter - Significantly historic car having been raced in the 1951 Monte Carlo Rally, very early chassis number 17, restored in the 1980's - engine rebuilt recently
British racing green with tan trim - Now in the hands of a French dealer - £35,000
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C540352

1952 Javelin - Straight car, nicely presented with gold coachwork, original interior in red with nice patina but now showing signs of wear
The car is for sale with a dealer in Lancashire for an eye watering overpriced & unrealistic £18,000 !!! Remains for sale but now reduced in price to £15,990 or near offer which still somewhat maintains the vehicle in the unrealistic & overpriced league
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C513130

1926 Jowett roadster - Rebodied in a mid 1930's sports style body finished in bright red and fitted with a Morris side valve engine - quite stylish but very much a mixed breed mongrel - the car is in Elsnez, Germany - unrealistically priced and going nowhere at £14,200
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C470356

1952 Jowett Jupiter SA - Red with black trim - ex Phil Green - Very well presented - For sale via a dealer in Bucks £29,750
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C564618

Peter Rodgers Car Sales at Huddersfield holds the following stock:

1927 7HP Short Two - Maroon with black interior - priced at: £15,950
http://peterrodgerscarsales.co.uk/vinta ... hort%20Two

I wonder if this: "1952 Jupiter SA Finished in Yellow with beige trim - RHD - well presented - with a European dealer in Dresden, Germany - this car last changed hands in the UK a little over 18 months ago - Asking price is £32,000"
Is the same yellow Jupiter which attended the Basingstoke Rally two years ago. I remember at the time the owner (from the UK) was looking for a buyer for it.

Paul - It was indeed - the car was sold at auction by Historics at Brooklands shortly after the Basingstoke rally for about £20k - purchased by a dealer in the New Forest whom then sold it a purchaser in Germany - now for sale again with another dealer over there - by my count it has had 5 owners in the last 4 years

The Blue Javelin PYC189 was registered in August 1953 in Somerset and appears in the 2008 Register as car no 23791.D. It is shown as an E2 PE but may be an E3. Looks OK ? Bob

PYC 189. There was a thread on this car in the Technical section (which is now gone?) back in 2007. http://jowett.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=546

Seems to imply it might have then been fitted with separate front seats which might be why the current Ebay photos show front and back apparently a different trim colour.

PYC 189 at the 1977 Honiton Hill Rally which I attended with NOM 700 (to the rear with bonnet also open), PYC 189 was white in those days, and owned by the late Peter Bartlett

It seems that PYC 189 was repainted between 1977 and 2008. In white it seems to have an early grill in one piece , which is not the case now. In white it seems to have non Javelin wheels with holes in the centre piece , it may be imagination but are they a smaller diameter and possibly still on the car , the ebay pictures are not clear ? Could they be Jupiter wheels ? Smaller wheels would lower the gearing and offer a wider choice of tyres for rallying

The profusion of lights on the white car indicates use on overnight rallies , may be the single piece grill is easier to remove in a hurry ? Bob

Hello Nigel,
Are we going to get two more new members from Cornwall?
Can you facilitate this?
Tony.

Good to hear the Javelin PYC 189 is going to a good home , new members we hope ? Lots of expertise in the Club and Jowett Car Spares are very helpful. It is a West Country car registered in Somerset ,mention of a Mr Bartlett as owner at one time ---any connection Alan ? Several other threads on the forum which indicate a possible Rally history , twin front seats , lights , wheels, grill etc . Good luck Bob
