Chris brought Rhowina (the shell we worked on at the NEC ) back today, but we had to fix the wheels on the buggy we used to move it around as they had collapsed. Also the door on the garage decided to fail so that is a job for sometime later as I have a few other things to sort out namely-.
Keith Wear phoned and I found out my forwarding system from
webmaster@jowett.org was not working. Hopefully that is now fixed and I get spam filtered emails via a gmail account I have set up for the purpose. The beauty of this is that people can send attachments and do not have to use the requests form, which is a little easier for them than using
the requests form. I received my first attachments via this method a couple of days ago from Wim Waltman in California. Our Film Librarian also received them.
TOPIC Great pictures here in the Gallery.
This was the message that preceded them.
I want to e-mail 5 scanned copies of the Jowett Javelin my father owned taken during the 1951 Ralley Monte Carlo. Can you give me an e-mail address
So any club officer from any Jowett club can use this method, which shields your personal email from the world but allows you to communicate as a club official and will filter out most of the spam you might otherwise get.
Examples could be:
spares@jowett.org
filmlibrarian@jowett.org
secretary@jowett.org
Another good facility is that the system can send to more than one person so that officers can have deputies who can handle such mail.
So please contact
webmaster@jowett.org if you would like me to set this up for you.
All I need is your normal email address or one you have set up for handling club mails.
I said above that other clubs can use a similar facility that can be set up on jowett.net so we can have
JCCAustraliaSecretary@jowett.net
JCCAmericaSpares@jowett.net
and these would forward to the relevant officer to handle. It is a bit of work for me but I am happy to do it to get better communication with the Internet world.
