Weber carbs

Post by dougie »

Some of the Jupiters here have been converted to the Weber 30ICF 13 carbs and they work very well.
I can only get one on ebay.
Can any of you suggest a supply in the Uk.
Cheers.

I do not know if any of these have that model but when I have time I can investigate.
Why not go up to a bigger one such as 32 or 34?

Keith,
There are iCF 13 , ICF 10 and ICF 3 as well as the ones you mention.
What is the difference?
There is a huge variation in price.
Cheers.

I have not used Weber carbs so have little knowledge. I would just look at all the specs I could find, if I was going to go for a Weber.
Carbs are complex devices and although you might get close in choosing one from specs, final set up would need a lot of road and dynamometer testing.

The Jowett config has some particularly difficult problems for carbs namely. Short intake tract, exposed position, firing order imbalance.

The 30VM Zenith also runs out of steam above 4000rpm so I would look at a larger carb if expecting such revs.
The 30VM suffers from icing below 4DegC ambient, so try water or electric heating as well as grille baffles or insulation.
The 30VM can suffer from float problems on steep hills or with high pressure pumps. It is also subject to overheating in hot traffic conditions.

A rebuilt Zenith obviously is better than a worn one and this is what I now recommend as it does keep the car original.

But the 30VM is no good for competition. You could fit a larger Zenith as Richard has done. If scrutineering allows, then my prefernce is for DelLorto.
