On February 28th we pay a visit to Cheshire Workshops, Barrack Lane, Burwardsley CH3 9PF. Meet at 11 o’clock. Park in front of the main building on the left as you enter the car park. Candle making, pottery decoration, badge and key ring making, plus many other craft activities. A shop selling all sorts of 'arty crafty' things. Victorian Penny Arcade. Stunning views across Cheshire from the Chandlers Restaurant where you can get light lunches to full roast. Directions: From A49 (from north or south) or A534 (from west) follow signs to Beeston/Beeston Castle/Peckforton Castle. Then follow brown signs 'Cheshire Workshops' or ‘Candle Factory’ (rather confusingly both signs are used!). It is well signposted but when you get nearer the WorkshopsDONOT follow the SatNavand don't become distracted by signs for ‘Ice Cream Factory’! A Report from Tim Brown on our Christmas Lunch at the Egerton Arms, Astbury: I sincerely hope that this report from the NW Section will not perhaps be as prickly as that submitted by our friends in the East Anglian Section in December’s Jowetteer. We celebrated our ‘end of term’ with a Christmas Dinner at a Congleton hostelry attracting over forty hungry members and welcoming attendees from the Northern and Midland Sections. Seasonal fayre was devoured with little left on plates, and wine glasses drained dry. Our esteemed Editor delivered one of his usual wonderful multifarious quizzes resulting in a winning team which achieved about 60% accuracy - which isn’t too bad as some of the questions were too obscure for the average mind! Well done Alan. Jowett attendance mustered an 8hp lorry and a Jupiter, but the weather was atrocious. The NW section conveys goodwill and hearty best wishes to all for 2016.
