Add items to JowettGallery

There is some help on the Gallery itself and on Jowett.net 'Help ' page; but please add more if you think it will help others. See also the Gallery & Manuals section below.

Add items to JowettGallery

Post by Forumadmin »

In JowettGallery I have added an album that shows you how to 'very easily' add items to JowettGallery, if you have Windows XP.

If you can follow a Jowett Maintenance Manual you should be able to do it!!!

Note you can add many items at a time and can load many other types of items such as word, pdf and movie files.

I have just uploaded 111 pictures into the Gallery in less than 7 minutes over 4Mb ADSL link. Using Windows 7, Live Photo Gallery I resized all the 111 pictures at once into a new folder, setting maxsize to 1024. Then I used the previously downloaded Windows Upload (in the Add Items, Windows publishing Wizard tabs) which makes a register change to your Vista or Order Prints drop down within Windows Live Photo Gallery menu. With this you logon to Gallery and select album or create album in the panel that the order prints dailog presents. I prefer to create the album in Gallery web page as then I can set the max size of pictures to 1024 and the max size of download to 1500 kilobytes. This resizes uploads if required and saves people having to download big files that really do not add much quality. It is actually better to first do the resizing on you PC, as described. Also add summary and description and keywords when creating the album.

That was the easy bit!
Now you need to annotate all the pictures to create some interest for the viewers.
Try the slideshow feature of Gallery.

The Upload Item facility requires Java Runtime to be installed on your PC.
In Windows 10, the Edge browser does not support plug-ins and therefore will not run Java. Switch to a different browser (Firefox or Internet Explorer 11) to run the Java plug-in. http://java.com/en/download/win10.jsp To enable Java to run the app from Jowett.net you need to put the domain in the exception list.
http://java.com/en/download/help/jcp_security.xml
in Windows run or search for programs choose the Java Configure program and edit the list to include https://jowett.net
