JowettTalk Login and Access Check

Post by Keith Clements »

Having successfully registered and logged into JowettTalk the system will display an access check page. This important page tells you a lot, so please follow this guide to see what it means.
You can see you are logged in here. Notice too a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) link that can help you with using the Forum and getting the most out of it. Also the link to the Gallery, but more about that later.

This next snippet of the ACCESS CHECK page confirms your email address which should correspond to that in the club's membership list.
If you want to change your JT email address then click the 'here' link. But please be careful and read the page which is displayed. Note you will have to go through the activation email exchange again to confirm you have access to the new address. Contact the Membership Sec to change your email address in the Club's membership list.

Although it may be a good idea to change passwords regularly, it will not be necessary on JowettTalk unless you suspect your account has been compromised. So it is worth making sure your last visit is properly recorded. In this snippet the date is the start of Unix time as it is the first time that 'Test3' has logged on. You can change your password in the 'User Control Panel' whose link is above. More on that in the User Control Panel Guide.

Image

The next snippet has some red messages which would need some action if you previously had a JowettGallery account. The blue message says the system has created one for you with the names you gave in the profile you set up at registration time. The red messages should go away the next time you login.

JowettTalk , JowettGallery and Jowett Internet Services use groups to control access to resources. This user has requested and been granted to JIS.

This next snippet shows the 'here' link to correct your JT account details, if your email or password needs changing.
It also shows which clubs the system thinks you are in based on your email address. If you are considered to be in the UK club (JCC Ltd) then the 'account' button changes to send you to 'check membership'. See the next help guide ' Renewing Membership' to follow this.

Image

This next snippet shows how your own Gallery album has been set up. Clicking the 'View Album' will open another window so you can explore the Gallery. More on that in the 'Using Jowett Gallery' guide.

For now click the 'JowettTalk' button and start exploring the forum. Note the search and advanced search facilities in the top left. Why not try introducing yourself in the 'My Jowett Experiences ' section by adding a new topic.

Re: JowettTalk Login and Access Check

The ''Login'' system changed yesterday. The Login button (top left of window or top pill on smartphone ) from Jowett.org or Jowett.net sends you to a login page with the JowettTalk blue banner at the top.

You also reach this page if you click login on the JowettTalk home page. https://jowett.net/forum

This page gives you the option to register, if you have not already done so, or to ask for a temporary password, if you have forgotten yours.
After an acknowledgement of successful login which moves on to do the 'access check' after a couple of seconds. Do not click on links on this page but wait for the access check to complete. If you do not you will not have access to the Gallery or membership services.
A window should open for JowettTalk and JowettGallery as well. If it does not then you need to enable pop-ups for the Jowett.net site in your browser.
Please read the login page as it shows you what you can do. You may have to switch tabs on your browser to do this.

------------------------------Some have issues with forgotten password and password change. Here are some notes..

Go to Jowett.net.

Click Login.

Type username and password.
-----------------------
If you have forgotten your username please contact webmaster giving any email addresses you may have used when registering on JowettTalk.
----------------------------------
If you have forgotten your password, click the link below password box, enter username and email you registered with JowettTalk wait for email , copy the password sent (CTRL+C) click activation link and, when the JowettTalk login page is displayed, enter username and system generated password.
--------------------------
The system will take you back to the login page which gives you lots of information and links to options you can use. Please read!

If you have not logged on in since November 2015, you need to enter a stronger password. Click the link to do this in the 'Your Password' section. Clear the 'Confirm e-mail address:' box if it has been filled in by your browser. Enter a new password that conforms to the requirements. Confirm password by entering new one again. Enter your current password (perhaps the system generated one). Click Submit. If there are no red messages you can go to Board Index or close the window. Note some browsers autofill the confirm email box so please clear that box.
------------------------------------------

Hopefully you are now good to go and enjoy the new facilities.

Please contact webmaster or forumadmin if any issues.

1. If you have not registered on jowett.net, please go to Jowett.net home page and choose the services tab and click register link. This link will take you directly there. After agreeing the terms of use for the JowettTalk forum, you should fill in the mandatory boxes. Please go to 2 below before submitting.

If you are logged on to JowettTalk but did not register for membership services then you should go to your profile page.

2. In either case make sure you click on the  request for services and JCC UK radio buttons. You should also read the Terms and Conditions in the website Policy as you have a duty of care with the information the system will provide you. Please use responsibly and do not disclose to non-members any member's personal information (which may include images in the Gallery) or club archive information.
Request Jowett Club Services: *
Request JIS and agree T&C

JCCUK: *
Please tick if you are currently a member of JCC Ltd UK.

If you had previously registered and are logged into JowettTalk then go to step 5.

3. You should respond to an email  that  the system will send you. This verifies your email address and is a security check.

You then have to wait for the webmaster to activate the account. This is another security check.

4. When you get the acknowledgement of activation you can login with the username and password you chose.

5. Once logged in, the system makes lots of checks and displays the results. If your email address is in a club membership list, the login page will contain links to Membership List functions such as checking the member's record, changing of detail, renewal and members' map. Please review these and take any actions required. Members can only see their membership entry, not those of others. (Except on the map)

Forgotten Username and/or Password

Post by Keith Clements »

I know many users forget their passwords and even usernames for the Jowett Internet Services. At least now you only have one of each to remember and not three.
If you do forget your password, there is some self help but if you do get stuck just contact me via the contact form on the Jowett.net home page.

The self help is accessed by clicking the 'Forgotten Password' link on the login web page where you need to provide both your username and email address. However, this will not work if the email address the system thinks you have can no longer be seen by you. So if this is your problem then please contact me by telling me what your old email address might have been or what your username might have been.

Note the system cannot tell you your username so if you have forgotten that please contact me with some clues as to what it might have been and what email address you may have used.
