I assume that there is copyright on this blogspot even though it is not specifically mentioned; presumably the author has registered his material in hardcopy. I want to be able to use this article in my local newsletter (while acknowledging the source of the material of course). I have emailed the author Ben Waters, and hopefully he will give me permission to reproduce his articles. I will post the outcome here so that other editors know what the situation is.

By the way, Shaun & Ben Waters appear to be devotees of historic racing motorcycles.

Cheers,

Andrew

Ben Waters has given us his permission to reproduce the articles in his blogspots related to Jowetts in the various Jowett Car Club magazines around the world, provided that:

1. The editors acknowledge the source by including something along the lines of "Reproduced with the kind permission of the Yorkshire Ferret". He asked that we don't publish his real name in our magazines in order to protect his identity.

2. We mail him a hardcopy of the Magazine edition that contains his material. Contact me for his address.

Many of you will recognise the material & photos he used in his blog "Jowett and the Ferrari Boxer F1 Engine" because in fact Ben has only collected & re-written material from various sources from about 25 years ago. Is there a copyright issue here?

His other blog that is of interest is titled "Jowett flat-four engines - Developments for sports cars and racing".

That is a fascinating article by the Yorkshire Ferret, but how old is it?

Did/does that Bradford still exist - particularly the modified manifold!

That said, modifying Bradford (or even pre-war twins) to take twin coke carbs would seem to be not beyond the wit of man?

And whilst we are at it, how about a 'cure' plan for leaking/corroded manifolds generally? I have some thoughts but no need/desire to explore them (at present!).

Modifications (presumably) to the Bradford camshaft would have been more tricky but after all, the Italians with their workshop facilities probably could make one up from 'scratch' relatively easily.

It is fascinating to me how these snippets of priceless information suddenly materialise - not just in relation to Jowetts but generally in relation to industrial history.

Long may it continue - and Happy Ferretting to all concerned!
The devil is in the detail!
