Norfolk wind energy museum 10 Sep
I am taking my 1934 long 4 saloon to a fete at the norfolk wind energy museum on Sunday 10th September 17 and thought I would let you know its a charming museum with workshops for the 1940s
Any car would be very welcome if you are fancy a run in Norfolk it would be nice to add a few mor Jowetts.

Hi Robert. I'd have loved to come, but the Long Two is still running in, so I can't face a long journey yet. That said, with my new 'high performance' engine, the main problem is keeping the speed down, making running in even more frustrating! Barry

If I can find a single Jowett meeting that doesn't clash with something else, I'd be interested in other pre-war drivers trying it to see how it compares. I've no real benchmark, but it does seem to have several times the power of the old engine. The increase in power is certainly more than I'd expect from the rebuild, so I suspect the valve timing was out, as its not the easiest thing to set up. There was also the strange issue of the old cam not seeming to align with the followers.

Very interesting
I get the feeling that mine is under powered and has more potential I am finding that every time I do a long run and tweek things get better. I need to give my carb some attention although using colour tune the mixture seems about right but I haven't looked that closely...
Should we add to or start a pre war thread to capture and compare notes?

I should definitely come over to see you for a coffee to put some mileage on it so you can see what it's like. Having driven back through a thunderstorm yesterday, I might sort the windscreen wiper first though. I went to School in Bottisham, so I should be able to find my way
I still need to check the calibration of the speedo and connect a digital tachometer so I can see exactly what's going on. I was also going to pop it on the weighbridge sometime. It would be interesting to see how it compares with the salons. It could, as you suggest, be useful to try and get some feel (or bench mark) as to what to expect. One of the issues with trying to sort the many problems I had before the engine rebuild was knowing what I was aiming for!
