What version of browser do you use?

Post by Keith Clements »

I have started doing the website half decade upgrade! It may even be a bit longer than that. :D
It would be useful for me to know what browser and what version of browser you are using because the latest support software that jowett.net uses does not support versions prior to Internet Explorer 10, IOS 7 and Android 5. Currently Jowett.org supports very old browsers such as IE7, and jowett.net needs IE8 +
I will not be taking the trouble to accommodate all the old versions of browser. So if you want to continue using jowett.net without any issues then you will need to use a browser that is compatible.
If you have issues with this then please contact the webmaster.

I do a quick test on Firefox which updates itself every time I load it. If you do get any issues let me know.
My main test is with Chrome as that is what I mainly use. My development software is an old version of Dreamweaver so it may let through some issues with newer standards . However my programming is checked by the Eclipse Integrated Development Environment that is very strict on what it lets through. The IDE contains a debugging system that runs on an emulation of the live environment. Even so the move from the tested and debugged software on this test environment may develop undetected issues as the test system is not exactly the same as live. In most cases I am looking ahead and using a more modern platform for testing as i expect the hosting service to move there.

Once again if you find any issues please let me know.

Of course, I have a list that has been building over the many years that the current website has been running. Some of these may get fixed but no doubt will be replaced by others. Some of my programming and the links into it are well over 20 years old. Contributions to the site made that long ago still need to be accessible otherwise there will be many broken references, not only on this website but any others that have referenced it in the past.

I used Edge for a few months when it first came out, but so many things no longer worked I have stopped. Thus please let me know if you have issues.
