I have been reading that many European cities are banning cars for pollution reasons.
Some cities cars built before 1997, others all diesels.
Has any of this impacted on the Jowett community?

Re: Banned cars
We had to be careful going into German cities on our Baltic tour in 2012 and many other cities now ban various ages and types of car. I think Paris bans cars over 15 years old. Soon diesel cars will be banned in some UK cities. Congestion charges in London effectively mean I would not take any car there.
There are also big incentives to use electric cars, such that many city dwellers now use them.
But there are still some country roads that mean you can enjoy Jowetts.

Re: Banned cars
The problem is you need to apply for the veteran stamp in advance and that is not that easy to do when you are a foreigner. Also the restrictions may be based on time and day of week so some research and planning is required.
In Belgium, older cars have to be going to an advertised car meeting or garage and cannot just be used as an everyday car. Of course such regulations are not that well policed.
Similar regs also apply in some states in Australia if you have a classic car permit and not a regular car permit. In Victoria I had to write down each journey in a log and if stopped the journey I was doing had to be in the log. It is also illegal to drive with your arm dangling out of the window ! In some east European states you have to carry wheel chocks. In France you have to carry a breathalyser......and the law keeps changing.

Re: Banned cars
a car how look's like a classic car - like all jowett's - will not be controlled! also the perfekt restauration, so a pristin looking car is vital ....
the problem is mainly for the young timer car's!!
in switzerland also not as daily banger - everyday's car...! a car with a veteran stamp, has to go to the MOT every 6 years - not like other car all 2 year.
if you doing a trip or holidaytrip with you Jowett you allways prepear your car and always study the law.
breathanalyser not any more... don't drink when you drive !!!
