Hi All
Must be the time of year, I'm also looking for a Javelin, would like a car that's already on the road and driveable, don't mind some work, so a car to improve or maintain would be suitable.
Don't mind mechanical or body work but don't want a total rebuild.
Here hoping some one knows of a suitable car to replace the Lanchester that I had.
I will visit the club stand at the NEC so may see some of you there
Thanks
Dave Dunkley

Re: Wanted Javelin
Hi Dave - One to consider here - it's for auction on the 23rd March - looks very sound & clean but has some mismatched panels on the paint & no pics of the interior - no guide price yet but given what these cost to restore I would think that is certainly worthy of consideration - you could always give them a call and see if they can advise on the expected price - link below

Re: Wanted Javelin
Hi Dave,
Looking at the Javelin coming up at auction and spotted by Chris, I can add a couple of comments drawn from the auction site photos.
Firstly, it's the first Javelin that I have seen with the original oil cooler in place in front of the radiator. This is rare! I have one, but have never fitted it as, so the story goes, they were very prone to leaks?
The wiring harness looks recent...always a good sign of a careful owner.
The engine was obviously running when some of the photos were taken, which means she idles ok.
There is the additional brake fluid reservoir mounted on top of the original. The advantage here is being transparent, you can see if the fluid level is correct without unscrewing the metal cap, which always seems to resist any attempt to easily undo, due to corrosion. Another sign of a previous conscientious owner, mindful of the single circuit braking system!
There a radio antenna in place, which is a strong hint to there being a radio in place?
It looks to be a Deluxe model, from the wooden dashboard and being 1951, she should have full hydraulic brakes.
A pity there are no interior or chassis photos, as she looks in pretty good condition. If the rest of the car lives up to these photos, I would estimate around £7k -£8k?
Perhaps someone up there in Yorkshire can visit the auction site and report back?
Hope this helps?
Best regards,
David

Re: Wanted Javelin
Hi Chris and David
thanks for the posting, I had seen the car and visit Thornton'le 'Dale often, planed to take my wife and make a weekend of it as we like that part of the country but then checked the date and realised I'm committed to working on the TR register stand that weekend at the NEC.
Hope it goes to a club member
I'll pop over to the club stand and say hello
