- Your interest in the forum: My Dad had a Jowett Javelin from 1953 to 1965, GKU128, but it now no longer exists. I have fond memories of the car and the work my Dad and I did on it when I was a lad. I keep a passing interest in the marque and I will chat to owners at classic car shows. I am now trying to track down what may have been a Jowett prototype or a special I have seen on a 1959 newsreel.

2-door Javelin?
Hi! First post. My Dad had a ‘51 Javelin (GKU128) from ‘53 to ‘65 when I think it went for scrap (sorry!) and he bought a Rover P4. I had many a happy day or 10 helping my Dad do things on the Javelin and I have a soft spot for these cars.
Now, my query.
In my online Motorsport magazine for June 2019 there is a an article about Jim Russell and his school of racing. Attached to this is a short 1959 newsreel about the school. At the beginning is a car on a skidpan and it’s a Javelin but not one I have ever seen before. It’s got two doors instead of four and looks shortened compared to the car I know. It’s not one colour which makes me wonder if it was a cut and shut modified car to promote oversteer on the skidpan.
Any ideas?

I will try. I am away from home ATM. I guess it means freeze framing the vid and taking screen grab.

Or downloading the video or posting the link to the video.
I have just looked at https://shop.motorsportmagazine.com/product/backIssues and seen that the early ones go for £6.50 each. Now I have them going back from 2007 to 1950 . Any offers? Some may be missing as I gave them to the shop on the Jowett stand at the Resto show to raise funds.

That’s the vid - viewable on YouTube. The strange Javelin is in the first 20 seconds or so.
