Dear members,
Last week the Rally Organising Team sent out the following notice to all those
registered to attend.
“Unfortunately, the organising team for the Jowett Rally last night made the tough
decision to cancel the Jowett Rally in Taihape April 3-6 as a result of COVID-19. We
are extremely disappointed by this situation as we were on track to deliver a great
rally in this small town, with over 60 attendees, guests from Australia, UK and USA
along with around 25 Jowetts.
The reasons are no surprise, our members are mainly in the elderly age group, some
had individually cancelled, with others indicating concern, along with new
Government advice on unnecessary gatherings, the unknown future and the
perception of the Jowett Club.”
Since then the Government increased restrictions on movements due to Covid-19,
first to 70+ year old’s and as of 2 days’ time to everyone.
As such the AGM scheduled to be held in conjunction with the National Rally of April
3 is postponed or cancelled. Your Executive team will over the next few weeks,
consider the options and responsibilities for the Club regarding the Annual General
Meeting and will advise members accordingly.
These are unprecedented times in most of our lifetimes and may require
extraordinary solutions.
Kind Regards
Ian Hingston
Secretary
Jowett Car Club of N.Z. (Inc.)
