You know you want one.

Post by AlecGatherer »

A gentle reminder that I am the bemused custodian of a 1930s Jowett stationary engine.
I would be happy to pass it on to a good home free of charge, or locally delivered for the price of the fuel.
Your amazement at my magnificent generosity should be tempered by the fact that I acquired it under exactly the same terms from the inestimable Tony Fearn, who had it sitting in his workshop with no real idea of why. It is now sitting in my workshop under the same circumstances.
It is over-complete but does need a rebuild.
Alternatively, if anyone has a belt-driven letter labelling machine I would couple it to the engine and turn it into a stationery engine.

Getting a bit critical now. Will no-one rid me of this meddlesome engine?

Someone on the Jowett FB page has put his hand up. OK with you Tony?

Hello Alec.
Yes it's ok with me.
Perhaps we'll see it again sometime in all its glory.
I think I saw a magneto for it, wrapped up in cling-film in one of my cupboards recently.
I'd forgotten I had it or it would be with you.
Don't know the state of it, but if postage from C-le-M is forthcoming, I'll search again and unwrap it and see if it really is a magneto.
If the new owner needs it, and it's what I think it is, he/she/it can contact me through my email.
The item will be a freebie, just need the postage.
I hope the engine will be put back together to a working state; I'd be upset if the engine and ancillaries were sold off piece by piece.
Tony.

There is already a magneto in one of the boxes, but a spare would always be useful.
I share your desire to keep it on Planet Jowett and will do what I can to vet any future owner/restorer.

And now collected by a nice JCC member with a nice Cornish wife. He has been directed to this forum and these threads.
