Javelin Dynamo

Post by David Morris »

Hi there,

Last Friday I needed to purchase a replacement dynamo rather urgently for our Javelin. Perhaps my experiences might help others who have the same requirement in the future?

To start with, I was helped by Alf Haseltine who very kindly gave me the original Lucas reference number for the Javelin dynamo, which was 22250. Armed with this, I contacted our local car electrical stockist, who used this Lucas number to equate to their own stock number, which is DRA 3576.

I then purchased the dynamo, which was luckily 'on the shelf' and cost £37.70 plus the VAT on an exchange basis, which seemed fairly reasonable. It is a Delco-Remy manufactured item and I can add that it was a direct replacement fit for my original one. Since then we have done 340 miles in the Javelin, with the dynamo giving an excellent charge.

Our local stockist was APD in Chippenham, tel. 01249-443100, but there are probably many others in the UK who keep this item, possibly at a lower cost.

All the best,

David
