Re: Cd bradford
David.
Looking back its a shame that George Mitchell didnt protect the many rare and unusual Jowetts he acquired, the Javelin with the perspex roof panel FKW 318 comes to mind. Luckily some were sold but many just rotted away.
As mentioned in Jowetteers and various books i have read from some years ago and in Noel Stokoes book The Jowetts That Got away from last year, he ran the car for some eighteen months or so on trade plates from 1964 after he bought it for a nominal sum from the caretaker at Jowett Engineering Howden Clough.
The chassis was taken to be repaired but either he forgot to go back or the business folded and it was scrapped. The remaining parts were just dumped in the field for over twenty years and deteriorated further.
The late Tony Palmer purchased a Rawson bodied Jupiter from him in the late eighties and picked up the remains as well. He had planned to create a display with these parts but unfortunately passed away suddenly in 2002. His two sons still own the Jupiter but looks like the panels were scrapped as they may have not recognised the significance of them.
I have some photos i could show you if you are interested.
Regards
Alan

Re: Cd bradford
I thought the javelin with the perspex roof had survived.
Has it been scrapped?

Re: Cd bradford
There were two Javelins with a part perspex roof. G Mitchell bought the second one FKW 318 in 1966 and left it in a field.
It gradually rotted away and after his death in 2019 a few parts were saved.
I don't know what happened to the first car FKU 372 but someone more knowledgeable than me might be able to help you.
