Re: Good to hear from you
The Seven, is getting a nice engine clean and paint, and is still running, I've been using it daily "again" as my polo, the brakes have failed for the 3rd time, so resorting to Jowett power over the winter, and its still running fine. Also treating it to a nice quiet exhaust when I get the hang of this welding business.Alastair Gregg wrote:and:-

Jowett power
Seasons Greetings Alan,
It won't be a surprise to you that the Jowett will ultimatley be the better vehicle, there is however a question worthy of consideration, how heavy a user of salt is Somerset county council? Up here in Derbyshire, they rush around on glorious days (they seem to miss the ice and snow) pouring tons and tons of death by microns on to our roads. Its good to hear the car is getting some more TLC, keep us all up to date.

The nightmare after christmas
on dismantling the engine for spraying up the pots, i have made a grave discovery, one of the piston rings has snapped. Are these items still available from Jowett Spares? and are they there over the seasonal period?

Grave discovery
Grave indeed Alan, but this would explain your high oil consumption. I believe JCSL open around 5th of January at their new location, I too am waiting to place an order. However the friends who have helped you in the past may well be able to sell you a set of rings. It would be helpful to know if the bores are oversized at all as you need the right size. I seem to recall you going out to buy a vernier, hence you will probably know off the top of your head what is required.
I would say Happy Christmas but it may be inappropriate in the light of your recent discovery
