Jowett Factory Location

Post by PJGD »

A suggestion: How about somebody within the Jowett community who is familiar with the area, identify the location of the Jowett factory on the Google Earth website with an information post for all to see?

Anyone (with a reasonable computer) can access Google Earth through the Google website and can then get arial views of anywhere in the world, particularly populated areas. The Idle area is clearly visible, and I think I know where the JCL plant was, but am not sure.

This could be a "marketing" opportunity to place an informational marker at the JCL location, saying something along the lines of Jowett Cars Limited built cars at this site blah blah blah, and then include links to this and the other major Jowett-related websites!

Phil: -

If the Morrissons store at Idle occupies the old Jowett factory site, then the post code is BD10 8EG.

I think you can enter this onto the Google Earth site and it will take you to the location.

Is this any help?

Ian;
That did the trick! With that Post Code, Google Earth zooms straight in on the supermarket. It is on the east side of Bradford Rd. and opposite Javelin Close.
Thanks
Philip.

Google Earth is amazing; you can even see cars in the drives of some houses. Some satellite pictures do have cloud obliterating some detail. How often are the images updated? I am eager to see when me new garage roof appears! Next time it crosses to take snaps we should all wave or do some advertising with some patterns on the lawn.
