Many thanks for these manuals and especially the excellent parts books.

It is a real pleasure to see the part numbers for all varients of Javelins and Jupiters arranged in such a readable format!

I found these parts books the best yet, as they have been created to show the item part number and if this changes year by year, then this is shown as a changing number for the early to late cars. This is really helpful and Mike must be congratulated for a super effort! They are much better than the original Jowett books!

I found the entries also seem to cover a wider range than the original Jowett source material. Well done!

Hello Mike.

I've just had a look at the various catalogues you've spent so much time on, and am very impressed, and add my thanks to David's on behalf of the Jowett fraternity.

They are much clearer than the ones I've scanned into my album in the gallery.

Is there a simple recipe for how to do it, or have you to re-type the original to get it so clear?

I will leave Mike to answer exactly how he did it. But yes he did put a lot of time on it.
Technology does help but only goes so far.
Alastair, Robin and Leo on three continents are looking at the best way to convert what are often poorly printed or heavily fingermarked documents into the Library.

The basic process has been discussed in various topics on JowettTalk.
1. Scan in using the best method to provide clear text and remove background. Some diagrams may require colour or greyscale scanning rather than pure black and white with background removal.
2. Use optical character recognition software either built into Adobe Acrobat or using Microsoft Document Imaging that OCRs to Word or using other specialised software.
3. Using Word, Acrobat or other publishing software, correct text and layout and compose for either screen or printer. Details on standards for doing this will be published. But for now just get it all so it is readable. Layout can be done later.
4. Download to JowettGallery Legacy project for team approval and publishing on website. Alternatively email to a Legacy project team editor.
