Re: searching for my dads car
hi ,i forgot to add that we do not want to buy the car but just to know what happened to it ,hopefully it is restored somewhere , i would love a couple of photos of it .thanks robert
Re: searching for my dads car
DVLA Search coming up with record not found. That doesn't necessarily mean it, but it is unlikely to be on the road.
Do you know when he sold the car?
It may be that someone has it in their garage somewhere waiting for restoration, but it could have been scrapped at some point.
Someone hopefully will be along to help with possible history - there are a number of people with almost encyclopaedic knowledge of registration numbers and owners.
Final option is to write to the DVLA. If you have a genuine reason for asking, which you do, they will give you the names of previous owners - that might give you at least a starting point to try and find photos and/or where it has gone. Once you have the names you can have a look in the local phonebook or run internet searches to try and find them and ask nicely - you may be pleasantly surprised with the things people keep!

Robert
As Jack has allready said the car does not appear to exist. However there is a picture of a car on the web that is not on our registar. Like wise I looked at a car only the other day that had not been used since the 70s and that is also new to us. So who knows!!!

Re: searching for my dads car
hi jack and peter many thanks for your reply ,i live in dublin which also makes things a bit more difficult ,is there any way that a chassis number could be got as there seem to be quite a few that are overseas and listed on the net with chassis numbers,i would be eternally grateful for any assistance in tracing my dads old javilin .it hold great sentimental value now he is gone .i do not know how long he had the car for,but it was his pride and joy .thanks robert

I used to live in Chailey, about 14 miles south of East Grinstead. This is certainly a long shot but you might strike lucky if you contact Edmund Nankivell through the Jupiter section of this website.
I have known Ed for over 40 years and he used to own / run a car accessory shop in East Grinstead, so he might have come across your dad's car at some time in the past.
There is another long shot - a gentleman by the name of Brian Baker, who lives in Crowborough, about 10 miles from East Grinstead, has been a long-time Jowett enthusiast and again he may have come across this vehicle in the past. I think he is a member of the local model boat club in Crowborough.
Happy hunting!!

Re: searching for my dads car
Factory records perhaps? The club may have some records that might help, but not sure if they record chassis numbers.robert wrote:is there anyway i can get a chassis number for dads jowett javilin .thanks robert
Have you contacted Ed yet? He would be where I would start if I had such a question. http://www.jowettjupiter.co.uk/ he does visit this site as well, but an e-mail direct should be a good place to start with this one.
