I've just finished browsing the April 2012 edition of the Jowetteer, and it was an interesting read.
As a discussion point, should the 'For sale and Wanted' details be included in the electronic copy, before the vast majority of our members get to see them?
Perhaps there will be an unfair advantage in seeing the more desirable items on-line days before the paper copy arrives through the letter box.
Tony.

Re: Jowetteers by email and in the Gallery
Seller may not want to wait another month to sell the item and may have taken the opportunity to sell on JowettTalk or Ebay and thus bypass the membership not reading from the Gallery.
Same could be said for planning of events in your diary which sometimes happened before arrival of the Jowetteer.
Anyway, opting to take your Jowetteer via this method will save the club cash(and its membership) and the planet.
Alternatively why should overseas members be at a disadvantage to those in the UK when buying ? This way the system is very fair, all (and I do mean ALL) have exactly the same opportunity.
Also, we do not want to start complicating such distribution or editing the on-line version of the magazine.

Tony.
Exactly this issue was discussed at the recent exec when going through the potential problems with electronic distribution of the Jowetteer. A date for distribution and publication online was agreed as the date on which the Jowetteer would be expected to land on the doormat of UK members under normal circumstances - to avoid the situation you describe and to provide a level playing field to all members, including international ones and those with or without internet access.
I have only just seen this update on the thread, and may not have discussed this with Keith. This month the cat is out of the bag, however we should be able to manage this for future months.
Jack.
