Re: le Mans Classic 2023
Well done to everyone involved. I have just watched the race on Youtube, quite a bit of Jupiter coverage including some pit work. Fantastic finish too 0.1 seconds between 1st and 2nd is proper racing. Safe trip home.
Jupiter race starts at 1:20:00 mark, this link should take you there,

Re: le Mans Classic 2023
In 1951 the Jup averaged 72.9 mph over 24 hrs.
In 2023 the Jup averaged 80.3 mph on its best lap. Now the course has a lot more bends than in 1951 and there are many other differences. I do not have a best lap time for any Jupiters at Le Mans in the 1950's so comparisons are difficult.
The rubber available now is much better. The R1 was lighter and more aero dynamic and used a different diff ratio.
Interestingly the drivers reported lack of top speed with the overdrive and so it was taken out for practice 2 and subsequent races. Matching the cam and other factors of engine performance to the desired top speed is our next task.
But having only been beaten by 2 cars in the class, both designed for racing, is an achievement.
Perhaps we use a flux capacitor?
Scott is admiring this voluptuous Aston or is it a Bristol Pete, the chief Engineer, has taken up a new religion as a result of the stress.

Well done Harry, Scott and team.
117mph top speed is pretty good going. Looks like you left it on Webers in the end?

Re: le Mans Classic 2023
Excellent result especially from a team of aged Jowetters. The photos were great who took them as it wasn't Keith and they were far too good and he was in a lot of them.
The Jupiter was a credit to you all and the fact that it didn't blow up or do anything very naughty might mean you put a Ford engine in it. I cant believe the performance of the car.
At 83 I am still driving the Jupiter and the Javelin and remember the times when Team Jowett competed in all the rallies and you had to X amount of competition to get your RAC competition licence.
The new Jowett racing team look splendid in their BRG outfits.
Hope you all got back safely.

Still have my JUpiter and Javelin both Mot'd
and running well. No longer using Jupiter for competetive motoring. She needs the rest.
