Scottish Section
A warm welcome to the Scottish Section BLOG page. This additional facility will make it even easier for all members to keep tabs on local issues and events. The sections are the strength of the Jowett Car Club and during this very special year this extra facility can only increase or promotion of our marque. I am sure that we will learn from each other how we best use these additional pages to further the Jowett cause. The skills possessed by some our Jowett Talk members will, no doubt, make these pages interesting to follow.
I am going to take this opportunity to expand on the section's Jowetteer entry regarding our first few section meetings for 2010. The information in the magazine has to be limited to a degree on space issues, however, more detail can be added here.
One of the biggest issues facing Scottish Section members over the last few years has been engines. Lack of properly running units and engines requiring extensive work or rebuilding comes up at every AGM and during discussions. We currently have two reasonably new members who are rebuilding Javelins who are going to be faced with engine issues. At our AGM last November the section set two objectives for 2010
1. To promote our Centenary Year within Scotland to the full.
2. To increase and share our technical knowledge and abilities.
This was expanded on at our last committee meeting as we set our meeting programme for the coming year. Our first meeting is a technical gathering based on the Javelin & Jupiter Engine. Drummond is currently starting to assemble an engine for the Javelin and all the items and tools will be accessible. This will definately be a hands on event with a very high degree of learning from all who can attend. Martin Prentice suggested that he is prepared to video relevant sections during the day for club and section archives. Ruby and the girls are on standby to keep a supply of tea, coffee & snacks on tap.
It was agreed that this technical meeting be split over two days due to the high level of member involvement. The dates are 7th March 2010 and 21st March 2010 with Kirkliston being the venue on both days and 1pm being a good start time. Let's see how we progress with this and, if proved to be beneficial, then other sessions can be added. I hear gearboxes being muted.
To commence our marque promotion Drummond has been asked, YES asked, to give a talk to the Edinburgh MG Car Club and the Riley Car Club on Thursday 8th April 2010 at Boroughmuir Rugby Club located at Meggetland, Edinburgh. Lets put a bit more detail regarding this on our next entry, maybe with a few pictures taken during our technical events.
Thanks for reading, speak soon. Drummond
