Bradford Classic Rally Saturday 22.07.06

Post by Tony Fearn »

Ian Priestley's bright red Weasel carried off the "Best in Show" prize, against very strong opposition, in this, the inaugural Rally to be held in Bradford town centre. Prizes were presented by The Lord Mayor of Bradford and Tiff Needell of TV's 'Fifth Gear' fame. Also present with Jowetts were Doug Rawson and Michael Booth, as well as yours truly (as an "out-comer") with 'Mary Ellen'. The next meeting of numerous Jowetts will be at the Bradford Industrial Museum on the 19th of August when the Northern Section once again hosts the 'Ex-Employees' Re-union. This is a good way for many of us to get together again before the colder weather arrives. It is what we call "a reet good do" whatever the weather. Ring Ian Priestley if you are interested in attending - 01274 677324. You won't be disappointed, and if we know you're coming, there'll be a bite to eat waiting for you by courtesy of the ladies of the Northern Section. Over the years we've had members come from almost all the sections of the Club, and it's been a real eye-opener for us to hear the tales from the ladies and gentlemen who helped build our cars. Noel brings various artifacts from the archives, Paul Beaumont, Denis and Audrey and Bob Gray smile at everyone, Robert Baines brings his 'JCC shop', Keith Wear is there to record memories, John Stockwell chivvies stationary engine buffs to divulge what's in the deepest recesses of the shed, Tim's been, Malcolm's been, Mile Smailes has been, and so has Geoff, and I'll bet someone has even seen old uncle Tom Cobbley! So, Will we see YOU in August? Even if you don't like Jowetts, there's always the wonderful museum to look at. Best wishes to all. Tony Fearn.

Well done Ian! A beautiful car - this sort of thing is so good for the Jowett 'movement'. I would love to join you all for the Bradford reunion, but one trip to Yorkshire is enough for me and the Weasel for one year! But my thoughts will be with you all. Have a great one!
