NZ Import Javelin - E Bay sale

Post by Chris Spencer »

Yet another Javelin that has come to the market - this would make a good project car for those of you looking for something to pass time with over winter - 1953 Javelin - ex New Zealand - never UK registered (vendor has not stated if UK import taxes have been paid) - finished in white (although it would appear that it was originally yellow) with a cream interior - it has been stood for a couple of years, the vendor reports a small oil leak and the car requires commissioning - but it looks rock solid with vendor stating that it requires no welding at all, the paint is tired. It looks like the original NZ registration was CF 991 - there is no reserve on the car - the auction finishes on the 7th November - it presently stands at 3 bids / £155. The car is in Manchester - e bay listing number is: 110605781901.

Keith - Point taken but in my defence - A - Although I use a PC - I am not that clever with it, B - To make up for this lack of knowledge - my skill base is directed in other areas i.e. vehicle paintwork / coachwork & detailing - which had been put to good use all weekend on Amy's Jupiter in preperation for it's attendance as a finalist at the Classic Car of the year in several days time, C - Could I be bothered at 12.45am in finding out how to enter the URL in to the blog - I will let you guess ! D - Could I be more grumpy than what I already am ? - demonstrations freely given upon request.

Above is the link.

Chris, to post a link like that, just highlight what is in the address bar at the top, copy and paste into the post, highlight the link and click the URL button at the top of the text and it makes it a linky.

Or just copy and paste the link in, this board seems to do it automatically.

I knew, one day, that I would get to teach Chris Spencer something. That day has arrived :) Yay!

Jack.

My comment above was made as a general comment as it seems no one here does it.

Seems to have ended, but at £0.99 with no bids - anyone know what's happened here?

Jack it was still live this morning with bidding to £600 + and still had another day to go, it would appear the vendor has ended the sale early - normally happens when someone comes along and makes an offer outside of the auction that the vendor can not refuse - my guess is that someone wise has offered him £1500 cash and at that price a rust free Javelin is a steal - tidy it up - freshen the interior - do a decent paint job - add some tyres - get it MOT'd and UK registered - if this is a dealer that has his hands on it he going to spend circa £2,500 - in a few months time it will be on his forecourt for £6,500 and that is how the trade make £2k + on such deals. Hopefully though a private buyer has chanced his luck and will do most of the work themselves and hang on to it.
