Myford Lathe?

Post by Keith Andrews »

I have a 1947 Myford 3 1/2 "M" series lathe that has never done any heavy work.
Does anyone know the routine to set the headstock bearings?

Machining is costing me a small fortune..Steering boxes, bushes/shaft for thrust bearing rod, king pins etc

The guy who owns the machine shop where I get all my head work done, is teaching me, Im getting reasonable results now, and will not be long before confident enough to do my own work.
Cost of rebushing/new thrustbearing shaft $NZ 220
Cost of parts to machine ..less than $10...
