Ex Jimmy Shand Jupiter

EX JIMMY SHAND JUPITER

This Jupiter was in an auction of 53 cars which took place at Glamis, Scotland on Saturday April 2nd. Reg Number FJR 759. The hammer price was £6600.00 (7k with buyers premium) and, unfortunately it was purchased by a dealer so it will no doubt pop up again with the expectation of a fat profit. The condition of the Jupiter was, to say the least, dissapointing with many incorrect parts fitted and bits missing. It also had a non- standard radiator and, possibly a Javelin axle.

The auction also had some Jupiter spares, including a set of Jup body panels ( Body number yet to be confirmed ) which was all purchased by the Scottish Section. ( arranging collection today - Monday )

More later after full examination.

For those of you who are too young to know about SIR Jimmy Shand and His Band, have a look here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3hAtxZXNrA and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCptMS8IZvA&NR=1.

All over the world the name Jimmy Shand is identified with Scotland and it's music. And that includes NZ. He and his band toured here several times over the years. In fact it's certain I would have beamed in on him with the follow-spot in the local Opera House . . .

Just to think . . . at one time I could dance like that shown in the second video (and remember the sequences), but that was in a more youthful time of my life! :D . Why, seeing the dancing almost inspired me to spring myself out of my special chair (it has a built in ejector mechanism to assist old buggers to get up), grab my Zimmer Frame and have another go, for old times sake!

But it wasn't to be . . . I couldn't rouse my partner . . . . Val was asleep in front of the telly! (Coronation Street was on! )

Well Done Leo, your post has brought together the world wide relationship of Jowetts, Scotland & New Zealand.
Trust you are keeping well. We heard all about your successes at the New Zealand Rally.

The spares alone were worth the three visits to Glamis. 1) To view on Friday 2) The Saturday sale. 3) The collection of all the spares today ( Monday).

Speak soon
