Have read recently the posts about NGK V Champion spark plugs AND have suggested to AB entry for New classic car of the year comp. Neither of which required a log in. This was what I was trying to get across once before!! :(

Having had a private email from Martin this was my response.

What jowett.org provides is user choice. If you want to keep stuff private to club members post it in the Gallery, you can create an item there and invite comment from all other club members and keep that conversation private to them. If you want, you can explicitly allow the public to view the item (but this is rarely done).

Also within JowettTalk we do have areas only viewable by registered and accepted users (some of whom may not be club members but have expressed an interest in Jowetts). Other areas on JowettTalk are only viewable by a defined set of registered users.

If there are any topics (or even posts) on JowettTalk you feel should not be viewed by the public then please contact forumadmin or the owner of the topic or post. JowettTalk is there to show the public how vibrant the Jowett scene is. Discussions on plugs may well encourage other classic car owners to be interested in Jowetts. There has been little requirement so far to moderate the forum which is testiment to the screening process done on application.

There is still work to be done to improve the participation though. It really would be nice to have officers and all registered users devoting 5 minutes a month to communicate and promote interest in Jowetts and the club through this public medium.

I can not reiterate on Kieth's point in the final paragraph strongly enough - we need to be aware at all times of how the world is ever changing - letter writting, issuing of cheques and whole load of other things are becoming things of the past - electronic communication - hate or love it - is here to stay and we must be in a position to adapt and communicate through the media that appeals to the majority - and if we don't we has 'Jowett Car Club' will be a thing of the past in the not too distant future!
