Parking for the 2011 JCC AGM

Not knowing Coventry too well, and having had trouble trying to find a parking spot a couple of years ago which resulted in a turnaround to go back home (around 300 miles round trip for nothing, and four of us in the car), I just wondered if anyone could direct me to a suitable parking place if I came down to the AGM.

Now don't say in the museum's car park at the rear, because it was full at 12.30pm, or so the jobsworth on the desk said. There was also a 12 car queue for the car park opposite the gates at the rear, so we didn't have time to wait for that on the odd chance we just might have got a space.

Perhaps a new venue in or around Coventry should be considered, such as an hotel with a large car park, with a meeting room we could hire, and with easy access via motorway links. It might just tempt more than the usual '45 members present' to attend.

Tony.

Tony,
Coventry has two Park and Rides that I have used on past visits to Coventry and to the JCC AGM . Park and Ride North is based at Austin Drive, Courthouse Green with a bus every 10mins. Park and Ride South is based at Memorial Park, Kenilworth Road and runs every 15mins. Both drop you in the Centre of Coventry if you arrive early enough you can lunch at the 'Flying Standard' which provides a good value meal.

Thanks for your reply John.

I hadn't thought of Park and Ride, but at £2.50 return to the centre, and being dropped off a couple of minutes from the museum at the junction of Corporation street and Burges, it seems like a good idea, unless the AGM over-runs and I miss the bus back!

I also printed off the location of 'The Flying Standard'.

Best wishes,

Tony.
