Many a time when I check what's going on in the Jowett world I find that I'm the only registered user on the site (poor, sad old git!), but there may be up to four or five "guests" on line at the same time. Why don't you all register and put in your hallf-penny worth??

The guests may well be 'spiders' searching the site.

Maybe it is me, as although I have checked off to always be logged in, I usually find that I am not. Have discussed this with administration, but things don't change.

I suspect a lot of people look to see if anything new has been added before logging in to add their half pennerth. Its faster when you need to find out whats going on. When you actually do have something to say which unless you are a technical virtuoso (and can spell :D I have my doubts about pennerth) will be fairly infrequently, you can then log in.

Just for Tony I will try to log in more frequently :)

I own a parrot site I started several yrs ago.
It is now # 1 on search engines and has the top ppl for this type of parrot world wide.
We get around 2000 to 3000 hits a day.
Spiders are mostly filtered from the stats.
At any one time there maybe only 1 or 3 members on...NZ time....in the early hrs of the morning there are several more...thats their evening time.
As admin I canm see what and where ppl are on the site..
Guests tend to search the site for info and dont register...I dont have a problem with that because the orginal concept of the site was to provide bottom line hands on information.

Every so often once or twice a week these ppl cant find the info they need, see from the info its worth joining and ask...
The advantage this site (as with our kakariki site) has over other Jowett sites, is that it is not just a static collection of pics and stories, but dymatic with new info nearly every day.

This is the nature of the net...
Site admins/members place a false importance on membership numbers.
Sure on the surface it is impressive and does the ego good...but at the end of the day, what is important is a core community has grown (like any club) and it is a place that provides GOOD and acurate info/discussion/points of veiw .
This site is young, and the subject "Jowett" is very narrow.
Already there is good hands on info and ppl are coming here just to learn...not regist....THAT is what is important.

Another consideration (as with kakariki parrots) is most ppl into kakariki or Jowetts are not internet savy...affaid of joining things..unless they NEED a question answered.
Yes I have chatted to several Jowett owners in NZ, yes most have a look thru. .yes I encourage to join...and yes they will, when they NEED to...and thats cool.

In my opinoin this site is already well on the road to being very successful, it has core members who know what things are about, it has a core community, willing to help others and discuss methods, and issues, and it has regular jowett ppl just visiting, and returning regularly.
My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
