It may be the Queen's but it is also my Jup's 60th. So I am planning to take the Jup on a grand tour of Northern Europe with Scott Renner as co-driver. One idea is to try to go to as many capital cities as possible to show off the Jowett marque. The current plan is to make it to 11 capitalsin three weeks. Yes I know I missed out Oslo but the beer is so expensive. also we did not drop down to Minsk in Belarus. We may use a bit of poetic licence and go for old capitals like St Petersberg.

A similar plan for middle Europe managed 16 in about three weeks (perhaps 4), so saving that idea for next year. Missed out Belgrade, Ankara and Athens as I do not fancy them and we have been to Monaco many times! Kiev in Ukraine is a bit far out of our way but would complete the set for Europe, but go to Odessa instead, just to add another country.

Southern Europe is more problematical but could try a loop around the Med provided Syria and all the other countries quieten down by 2014!

Another thought is to try to take pictures of a Jup in 60 capital cities and market the idea to a magazine. How about taking a picture of your Jup in front of the iconic building in your (or anybody else's ) capital city. Worst case we just go for 60 countries as getting to Washington DC is a bit far for Scott Renner.

Checking out insurance, recovery and local car clubs are the tasks to be done. So if you have any contacts in the Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland) please let me know.

What a great Idea!

The one that takes in a Jupiter 60 capitals of countries the world is one that I can help with. In fact that's a easy one for me as I'll be in Wellington in JJ-1951 within the month. I would imagine that there"ll be almost no trouble getting the car parked for a photo session right outside the steps to The Houses Parliament here in NZ. (try that at the Capitol in Washington, D.C.! . . . . . mind you that building is much more impressive and photogenic!).

You'll be wanting as high a resolution image as possible for presentation to a magazine if the project goes ahead . . .

Well the dream is starting to come to fruition. Scott Renner and I are planning a trip to extend the Denmark experience in August around the Baltic. Obviously anyone brave enough to join us for all or part of the journey is welcome.

Currently we are joining up with Belgium, Dutch and German Jowetteers for the trip to Faaborg. So we hope to have visited London, Bruxelles and Amsterdam along the way. Hopefully, there are some Brits going through or across the channel that want to tag along. Jaak Jacobs is helping to organise this stage with a visit to a car museum of unrestored cars at Leuze (235 miles from KL). Then on to stay at Peer (115 miles)(Night1). The next day off to Amsterdam to link up with others (106 miles) and continue on to somewhere close to Hamburg (290 miles) (Night 2.)

We will probably stop around Hamburg before joining the others coming by ferry from Harwich.(146 miles to Faaborg)( Nights 3, 4 &5)

We will have three days organised by Ib to enjoy before setting off with our Finnish friends through Copenhagen (117 miles ) (perhaps stopping at Malmo (29 miles) overnight (Night 6) and Stockholm (381 miles). A ferry from Stockholm to Turku is being booked by Jorma Hihnala, so if you do want to join us you need to let us know soon. The ferry will go overnight leaving Stockholm at 20.00 hrs and arriving 07:35hrs. (Night 7) We may take in a relaxing boat cruise before going to Helsinki. (88 miles)(Night 8 &9).

Then the problems start as we want to go to St.Petersberg. (120 miles to border with at least 2 hour wait plus 120 miles to city)(Night 10, 11) This is what we need to contend with - http://www.waytorussia.net/Transport/In ... l/Car.html

So then on to Estonia (60 miles) and Tallinn (180 miles) Night 12, well at least we are back to Euro land, V5C, UK driving licence acceptability, and no visa. Perhaps we will find a local car club or civic reception awaiting us

Then off to the Goodwood Revival. There are 3 days of contingency built into the return which hopefully will not be needed but we may take by spending an extra night in Germany, Poland and Peer.

Photo-shoot - MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Having had wonderful weather for weeks, it all turned to the proverbial s..t (read, "muck"!) for the weekend that I'd gained permission to do the Jupiter photo-shoot on the concourse outside NZ's Parliament and "Beehive" buildings! But, there was a break in the wind and rain leaving a mere Wellington zephyr (read, high wind!) . . and the sun came out and occasionally shone through the scudding clouds. In fact the conditions for "photography" were pretty good with the mostly bright overcast sky eliminating harsh shadows.

Arriving at Parliament Grounds I found the only open vehicular entrance, that was used in the weekends, without any trouble and set myself up to start putting the car into various background situations when the Supervising Security Officer approached me saying, "the photo doesn't do it justice!" He'd been given a copy of the image that I'd e-mailed to the Assistant to the Speaker of the House when I'd asked for permission to do the photo-shoot. After a general chat about the Marque (in which he revealed that a neighbour had owned a Javelin when he was a kid) . . . he left me to it.

So here is a couple of the much reduced images which, in my opinion, cover the criteria of showing the Jupiter (of course!) and the buildings that folk residing around the globe would (hopefully) recognise as being the seat of the New Zealand Government. There are of course, several buildings but, the Beehive (containing minister's offices etc.) and the Parliament Building are the most "recognisable".

Please tell me which of these you think that I should submit to Keith.

Well I guess it does not really matter, but if your model (Rowina) was born in 1952 then give her a 60th Anniversary present and photograph her outside (or inside) an iconic building in Bern or Leichtenstein. And even if she was not then she might like to be treated....

thanks will doit when she is in perfekt state..... nice and in glory , next year !! bern "Bundeshaus" and in lichtenstein " castle" also in geneva " uno" maybe the "FIVA" palast in zürich......
