JowettCC of New Zealand's 50th Anniversary

Post by Tony Fearn »

Perhaps due to the server trouble I haven't yet seen anything in JowettTalk about the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Jowett Car Club of NewZealand.

I have a friend and work colleague who emigrated to South Island with her husband and family a few years ago. Having read somewhere on JowettTalk that the anniversary rally was being held in Nelson, where they live, I emailed a request that they attend and take some photos for posterity.
The Rally was over the weekend of 12-16 April 2012.

A couple of days ago a CD with about 100 photos on it came through the post. I posted a couple of reduced-size images in this section, but these were lost in space due to the server trouble, so here they are again. The total size of the CD is around 350 Mb so they can't just all go into the Gallery easily as we're only allowed 8Mb per post.

Judith says in part of her email:-
Amazingly the rally was in the polytechnic car park -about 50 metres from Mum and Dad's house and we are only 100 metres from them! Dad was there before we even got out of bed!
I went out of a sense of duty- you did so much for me it was the least I could do - but I actually really enjoyed it. I loved all the old vans best -I liked the flash green car too. There were some really interesting old characters there who talked us to death as well.

I like the last sentence,
Regards,
Tony.

Great to see. Wish I had been there.

Note that it is easiest to "view as slideshow". You may get some warnings from the operating systems depending on your security settings; but just accept.

There must be many Jowetteers out there (who were at the 50th Anniversary rally held in Nelson) with many good photos of the rally, especially the concours where 55 Jowetts were on display. Unfortunately my ones are still in the camera and I have not had time to load them onto the computer at this stage. Lets hope someone can fill this space before I can.

PS The NZ web site depends on emailed summitted information to be kept uptodate..be it new cars, change of ownership, events past and future, contacts etc...We do have a very small handfull of members, excective officers who regularily notify of cars, events updates etc...but as you will see going thru the site there are areas that have not been updated for years now..because a lack of submitted information
