Just popped up, evidently needs work on the interior but looks fairly straight.

Re: Another Javelin on ebay - 1953 Standard
Jack, I could not find this in the 2008 register. The registration number is not clearly identified in Newall. As a reverse sequence number it should have been issued post 1963. XC was mainly a London number . Possibly the car is a reimported export model --right hand drive -- arriving back here sometime after 1963. It would be interesting to find the factory chassis number , if an export it would have an E after the number, possibly ES for standard or ED for deluxe.
The Dashboard is clearly that of a Standard as the vendor describes, but the bumpers are deluxe, which may have been an export feature of course. Others may have more info on this since there are many cases of deluxe and standard features being mixed up!

XC is one of the re-issue sequences used by DVLA. Look on e bay - you will see many vehicles with shiny new number plates with an 'X' - XC, XD, XE etc. I have a car with an XD number (issued in 2006) - the original having been sold - which helped me get the car for a cheap price

Re: Another Javelin on ebay - 1953 Standard
I have done some more detective work on this interesting Javelin. I called the vendor on the number in the ebay advert and explained I was a JCC member interested in how the car came to have its current number . He said it was on the car when he bought it and knew nothing of the history or any previous numbers. He did not know the car body number and I did not press him for it--in hindsight a pity. He is also a JCC member.
Two further points . On looking at the pictures more carefuily I am not sure it is a "standard " car . The instruments on the dashboard are two large circular dials as on a deluxe and the fittings , bumpers, grill and seating are in the deluxe style . However the dashboard does not look like veneered wood. I think I heard somewhere that some very late Javelin deluxe models were producced with a non -wood facia?
In the ebay advert the date of first registration is given as 09/07/1953. , this is quite a late car. As it happens there is in the 2008 register a car also registered on 09/07/1953, also colour green, reg no UFC 6. This is the car, featured in a Jowetter article in April 1987, then owned by Slades Garage of Chard., Somerset and at that time described as the "youngest in our Register" This arose on the Forum in Feb 2012 in connection with another Javelin SFC8,and you, Andy Stevens ,said in a post that the number UFC6 was now on a Mazda MR 2, I assume you had seen it?
I wonder if the car on ebay was at one time UFC 6 ( which was in the register as E2PE 24373 D) having had its number sold and replaced with 693 UXC ?

Re: Another Javelin on ebay - 1953 Standard
I think the car is a 'standard' model - yes the bumpers are deluxe, but could have easily been changed. Both the Standard Javelins I have owned had deluxe bumpers ( I'm looking for a standard set incidentally
). The rear number plate / light arrangement is 'Standard' as is the dash - the two round instruments are correct - one is the speedo, the other oil pressure, fuel and something else - cant check mine as it's not garaged nearby
This being the case, this car is probably not UFC6. Eden Lindsay will be the man with the answers. Presumably the cars owners filled in chassis number details on the joining form when they joined the club. I haven't heard the story about late deluxe cars having a metal dashboard - are there any late deluxe models still around? Mine (24694) and the few other later surviving cars are standard models i think. Andy

Re: Another Javelin on ebay - 1953 Standard
Hi there,
Yes, the dash shows it as a 'Standard'. The later instruments on a standard are a speedo and a composite instrument showing oil pressure, engine water temperature and fuel level. I believe they were also going to be used on the CD, from factory photos in the reference books.
However, the bumpers are de luxe, also the rear seat looks to be from a de luxe. No rear armrests and no hanging straps also hint at it being a standard. Perhaps the factory was 'mixing and matching' towards the end? Also, it is easy to fit the de luxe rear seats and bumpers. Rather more of a struggle to fit the de luxe front seat, as I know! The standard front seat has a different adjustment system and the floor fixings are all different. That de luxe front seat weighs a ton and seems to want to dive backwards as you try and mark-out the floor! Definitely not a five minute job!
Hope this helps?
David
