I have to say that I am delighted with the recent actions of other members in the conversion of members - typical is Bob Lintott who takes the time to call an e bay vendor who belives the Javelin he owns is too far gone, Bob advises that all the support & parts are avilable through membership - result is that the car gets taken off the market and we gain a member (plus another car gets restored and not stripped for spares)

Likewise through the intervention of Jack suggesting that young pre war Jowett owner out in Germany should benefit if he joined, then with Keith helping out with the transfer of the subscription fee - again we gain another member and importantly a young member.

So if you see a situation where a potential member could be converted to a physical member - please take the time to ensure that we have done everything to convert the situation - it is not about us all hard selling the club - but then again it is - without healthy membership we shall fail to support many of the services that we currently offer as a club - imagine not being able to support the spares scheme or hold a national rally because we do not have the members to do so. Good luck - Chris

re the call I made to the vendor of the "£800 Javelin " on ebay . Without detracting from Chris' comments ,I should make it clear the vendor had already decided to take it off ebay and restore the car, so I was not involved in persuading him . He wanted to join JCC but was having difficulty getting in touch so I gave him the mem. secs. telephone no as in Jowetteer. He was intending to call JCS . I hope he made contact. best regards Bob
