I am humbled to announce that Mr Keith Clements was awarded the 'Club Personality of the Year' by Classic & Sports Car magazine this evening in Birmingham - in recognizing the effort that Keith had made in his unsupported 4,000 mile European tour in order to raise funds for the cancer charities that have supported the Clements family over the the last year - raising several thousand pounds in doing so - whilst also significantly raising the profile of the club. A very emotional Keith duly accepted the award - credit also has to go to his co driver and fellow club member Scott Renner who flew over from California - pictures to follow soon

So the Jowett Car Club strikes again - and manages to win the the two most prestigious awards at the countries largest classic car event !!!!

To add to this, Keith's part in rescuing a car with a very uncertain future and pointing it towards Leeds City College, rescuing a huge number of parts from the Feltham Javelin, assisting Peter Pfister in getting his car nearly 1,000 miles to the Llandridod Wells Rally and volunteering to organise the 2013 Basingstoke rally and progress with the club website and forum were all a big part of the nomination for this award.

Needless to say, the whole family is very proud of the award, and the raised profile with C&SC that has come from all the work that Keith has put in over the last 12 months, despite difficult personal circumstances he has given 110% to the JCC and continues to do so.

Jack.

Thanks everyone. I was very emotional as it was a complete surprise. Coming as it did at the end of all the presentations for best stand and best website, best magazine and best club - the build-up was enormous to this most coveted of awards. To have a few hundred people genuinely applauding and then congratulating you personally after the event showed how much they valued the award. I have not stopped telling everyone I meet as it is the culmination of 40 years of club activity from which I have had so much enjoyment. Although there were only a few of the most dedicated classic car club members at the presentation, the Classic and Sports Car magazine will bring the news to a very much wider public as it is the world’s best-selling classic car magazine. This will show what this club and the Jowett marque is all about and I hope it inspires more to be proactive with club activities and with using their classics.

My Baltic trip was multi-faceted but was under-pinned by a network of international club members and their contacts without whom it would not have been possible or even considered. As such the trip was not “unsupported” as I knew that that classic car movement was probably only a phone call away should we have been in trouble.

Thanks go to Scott Renner who was the greatest support of all, being the co-driver, but also to everyone we met on the trip and to all the Jowett Club members who over the years have kept the flame burning bright.

The 'Just Giving' pages are still open should you wish to contribute to Cancer Research or the Hospice of St Francis.
