I know this was discussed ages ago (I'm blowed if I can find it though!) but the idea was floated by someone- it might even have been me!- that if members provided a list of the spares they held it might be helpful to those rebuilding their cars.
I promised to do my list and have now completed it. It's a list of spares I hold.
I am NOT necessarily advertising it for sale, I appreciate there is another forum for that! Some of the items could be for loan to make copies, some things like tools could be for local loan, some things I could let go of (but that's not very much, just where I have a surplus.)
I'm not sure how to dispay the list. Can someone please suggest a suitable arena- Cars and Parts? or Javelin- since all my parts relate to the Javelin?
Thanks
Paul

Re: Javelin Parts held by owners
Paul has since sent me a copy of his list of spares.
He has broken it down into various sections, ie engine, body etc. identified the part, the general condition, the quanitity he holds and wheather he is prepared to sell, exchange or loan the items.
If any body wishes to do like wise I can forward a blank proformer as a starting point.
Please ring me, or Email and I will forward either a paper copy or send the blank file via Email

Re: Javelin Parts held by owners
This is indeed good news. The thread was here.
There are many options but probably the best is a searchable database as part of Jowett services on jowett.net. However, this will take time to create.
Another option is to put into a speadsheet which can be downloaded and then searched. This is OK if the number of parts does not get too many (say over 5000). The speadsheet can be housed on Jowett.org for public view or jowett.net or Gallery if we want to limit access. Finally, hand written notes can be housed in the Gallery. Do not put into JowettTalk as attachments as they are difficult to index.
I can create a section in the Gallery for them or can reference off the Parts page on Jowett.org.
Whatever, send be the copy and I will do what I can. As Peter says we should try to standardise input. Parts lists in Excel format are on the website and could have additional columns added to include things like :
Name of owner (linked to Jowetttalk username so that they can be contacted easily).
Quantity available
Condition of items.
Sale or borrow.
If anybody wants to create the spreadsheet and manage it please come forward! Peter?
This can later be transferred to a database and managed by our spare parts co-ordinator.
