Jowetts in Rhodesia

Not sure if this has been covered in the past (a site search did not turn anything up on this), but this website covers some Javelins in Rhodesia. . .

The first Javelin in the post in now mine. The blue '51
Rather embarrassingly i am the young lad with the MASSIVE glasses and the pot hair style. I now look somewhat different.
The picture to the right was the car at my father's funeral.
My father bought it the year i was born and was hence forth reffered to as "mine". Since he passed it was left to me in 2011.

My brother has been the care taker of it sitting in Bulawayo, but its time for me to bring it Johannesburg where i now live.

The interior is 100% original and in perfect condition, but the paint is the worse for wear and needs to be re-done.
the tiny capillary pipe from the distributor being the advance & retard is broken off so that makes it pretty much unusable at the moment as i am not mechanical enough to set the timing by hand and keep it going :)

Any South African's on here?

Welcome to the forum, you're in the right place to ask for help, although it will probably be over the internet unless KC modifies his plans about his trip to NZ!

I notice that your profile says:- 'I own a 1951 Jowett Javelin which is in Bulawayo Zimbabwe and i am relocating to Johannesburg, where i now live. I just want to meet and tap knowledge from existing owners'

Perhaps we can know your name rather than 'hlbeckley'. It makes it seem more friendly. Administrator will change your forum name if you so wish.

Regards,

Tony.

P.S. I'd strongly suggest you have a look at the benefits of Club membership, (search this website), especially as there aren't many Javelins in your part of the world.
