Jowetts Are Back

JOWETTS ARE BACK

There’s now’t to compare with a Jowett
As folk are amazed at just how it,
Can cross the Sahara
And go even farther
If visas and permits allow it.

In Bradford they made different sorts
From Tourers to Sandracers and Sports
No matter what style
It’s more smiles per mile
According to drivers’ reports

The wheelbase is only seven feet
And the profile looks tiny and neat
But ground clearance is high
O’er rocks it can fly
And on Trials it performs quite a treat.

Like a Nash the gear change is outside
And the brakes on the propshaft applied
A half turn of the wheel
With it’s sensitive feel
Three-point-turns are now cast aside.

“The small car with the big pull”
Was not just “marketing bull.”
Two pistons proposed
Horizontally opposed
Such power!! I’m not pulling the wool!

For a while they have been out of fashion
But now they are back with a passion
They didn’t make many
They’re not ten a penny
In fact they are starting to ration

If you want a car to compete
And a Brescia’s too pricey to meet
‘Cos your cash won’t allow it
Then go for a Jowett
Such value is too hard to beat

Great poem! Please tell us more - where did this car come from? I wasn't aware of a Worseley replica in this country - it looks beautiful - he must be delighted!

Its 924000 re bodied and re numbered after the previous owner removed the original KW number plate. Just got a VSCC buff form as standard as well, ready for the trials season.
The weight distribution is 55% over the rear wheels, and thats before anyone climbs in!!!
Virtually all the occupant weight is transferred to the rear wheels, with the car parked horizontally.
Climbing steep muddy hills, it will transfer more weight off the fronts!

Commissioning is in full swing, been round the block today. Need a bit more puff, but still on the single carb as yet.
Twin exhausts are a must.

All good fun. And that poem is a hoot isnt it? :D
